The Essentials of Painting – Guided Track is a 4-month program that combines the flexibility of a self-paced course with the support of monthly live feedback sessions, bonus demos, and an artist community.

This option is ideal for artists who want structured support — and time to grow on their own terms.

The Essentials of Painting Guided Track now offers two options:

🖌️ Gouache Track: Perfect for painters seeking to understand the fundamentals of painting more in traditional mediums.

💻 Digital Track: Ideal for digital artists aiming to enhance their Digital painting skills.

Both tracks include:

  • Full access to the Essentials of Painting course

  • Homework briefs for the lessons that have a digital painting version and gouache/ traditional version

  • Four monthly 2-hour LIVE Zoom sessions
    (Separate sessions per track, each at the end of each month)
    Includes direct feedback, paint-overs, and live Q&A.

  • Tailored demos specific to gouache or digital techniques

  • Personal homework folders + session recordings + PSD paint over files of your homework to keep and rewatch anytime

  • Private Discord Community to post progress and chat with peers, and get written feedback from Tiffanie

  • Accountability, and support while being able to do the homework at your own pace

How the guided track is structured:

Each month, you'll complete lessons and homework at your own pace. Submit your work to your own folder to be provided, and during the live session, Tiffanie will offer critiques—either selected by her or by request. She’ll also reinforce key concepts with live demos or Q&A, and guided track students get access to exclusive bonus demos.

  • Month 1 will focus on Chapters 1, 2 and 3 in the Essentials of Painting Course, which is learning the visual tools of painting and how to design compositions with proper value relationships.

  • Month 2 will focus on Chapter 4 in the Essentials of Painting Course; we will be going into a deep dive of color anatomy and color relationships. We will explore the world of saturation, color temperature and grays, and how they are all linked.

  • Month 3 will focus on Chapter 5 in the Essentials of Painting Course. Building on what we learned about color anatomy, we’ll explore how light affects the colors we perceive in the real world. You’ll learn to paint different lighting conditions while also experimenting with pushing color beyond observation to enhance mood and expression.

  • This month, the focus will be heading outdoors to paint from life (Chapter 6 in Essentials of Painting). Painting from life is the best way to improve your color instincts, understand value and color relationships, and build confidence in composition. Nature is your greatest teacher!

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • You will have two year access to the Essentials of Painting Course, but you will be able to keep all the recordings of the live sessions + bonus demos!

  • The monthly live sessions will be around 2 hours long depending on the amount of homework submissions and questions. All live sessions will be held on Zoom.

  • Yes, you will be able to download and rewatch the live sessions as many times as you want. It is yours to keep.

  • That is totally fine if you cannot finish all the chapters and homework each month- you can submit what you have done, and Tiffanie will still critique your homework! She will give you suggestions on what to work on in each live session based on your pace and skill level.

  • That is totally fine if you can’t- it is not mandatory to attend the live sessions, although it is highly recommended! Tiffanie will still critique and do a paint over your homework and you can rewatch the recordings.

  • You can continue to follow the course at your own pace, and you will still be part of the discord community to post progress and get written feedback from Tiffanie.
